Who makes the courses?
My name is Elaine and I am a psychologist who also had anxiety and panic.
How the courses work
All my courses are based on the work that I do in private practice and use scientific models of therapy that work well with online courses
Feedback from people who have taken the course
To date, over 600 people have taken the Stop Intrusive Thoughts Course and over 300 people have provided feedback
The link below will take you to a live dynamic form showing the live feedback figures
"I believe that the course really helps to understand what intrusive thoughts are, and that there are techniques that can help people cope with them. It is also good that you learn that there is nothing wrong with you, that intrusive thoughts are normal and others have them as well."
"Simply put, this course makes me feel like I can get a handle on my thoughts, which will in turn give me a handle on my life. The videos alone make me feel better; I'm able to apply what I learn from there to my life. And when I'm working on this course, I don't really feel like I'm doing homework. "Homework" is kind of a bad word for me; makes me think of unpleasant stuff. I instead feel like I'm doing some interesting activities. Thank you for making these courses, Elaine! :)"
"I have struggled with these thoughts for 15 years and now I am 30; I wish I had access to this 15 years ago, I really did not know intrusive thoughts were so common. Back then, I really thought I was going crazy or something."
"This course has already drastically helped SO much!!! The main thing that has helped is the form I’m filling out...it’s brought a lot of awareness to me. What I thought I was doing (my compulsions) were helping, are actually the problem and make things worse. I may not be able to control my thoughts but I can control what I do with them. LET THEM PASS THRU. Don’t spend time on them! It’s helped so much and it’s only been a few days! I’m so thankful I accidentally found this program! Thanks Dr. Elaine!!!"
The difficulties you are experiencing are not because of the type of thoughts in your head, but because of how you are currently responding to those thoughts.
It is your response that causes the upset and you can learn to change your response to the unwanted thoughts you have in your head
How will the course help?
First of all, my aim is to help you understand the thoughts you have.
Why? I am assuming you are reacting to the thoughts as if they are real, or say something about you as a person. If this is true about you, then you will be experiencing a significant amount of distress.
My course is to help you respond to your thoughts differently.
Why? Currently you might be reacting to your thoughts in ways that not only keep the thoughts going, but can result in you changing the things that you do, e.g. you might start to avoid people, places or things and that impacts on your quality of life.
The course will help you to investigate your own thoughts processes. In doing so, you will discover;
- things that you do that are not helpful
- what you avoid in order not to 'trigger' your thoughts
The course will then help you by teaching you to interact with your thoughts differently, to
- eliminate the distress you experience
- take the fear away, and
- normalise your experience.
